Mrs. Madoka Wakunami and Mr. Soryu Wakunami are the owners of Soryu-gama, a small pottery shop, and gallery near Kiyomizu-dera.

Ms Wakunami was born in 1976 in Fukuoka, graduated from Saga University, and was admitted to Potter’s Technical School. She is the 14th generation of Koishiwara Pottery tradition. Mr. Wakunami was born in 1977 in Kyoto, graduated from Seian University, and was admitted to the Potter’s Technical School, finishing the Training Course of Traditional handicraftsmen in Kyoto city. He is the 4th generation of Kyo-yaki pottery tradition.

Soryu-gama potteries mix those two artisans’ style and the pottery traditions of Kyoto & Fukuoka.
