Ms Tamao Shigemune was born in Yamaguchi Prefecture and currently lives in Tokyo. She graduated from Tama Art University, in the Department of Textile Design.

She learned about textile design by apprehending various dyeing techniques such as yuzen dyeing, katazome, and screen printing.

While attending university, she gained an interest in antique kimono and started making her own painting-like kimono and obi designs.

In recent years, she has expanded her range of activities such as art direction, kimono styling, prop styling. She has participated in overseas fashion shows, workshops, and filming.
