Saida Stone Shop has been engaged in stone processing and sculpture in Kameoka, Kyoto since its establishment in 1902.Takaaki Saida is the 5th generation. At the Saida Stone Dealer, we work on stones such as Japanese gardens and tombstones. In addition to producing Kyoto stone crafts and lanterns using fleas and stone heads, he specializes in sculpture using finer fleas. A variety of techniques such as the flea finishing technique applied to the Kyoto lanterns and the traditional technique unique to Kyoto that gives the work a profound feeling over time by finishing it to make it look weathered are with contemporary art.

Finishing by hand. Then you can feel the warmth as if the stone, which should be cold, had warmth. At the Saida Stone Shop, we are trying to create works that can be used in various scenes of daily life, using the technology cultivated over the past history.

The finish, which gives the impression of being weathered over a long period of time, has led to the rediscovery of the charm of stones by actively collaborating with other materials and techniques. “Make things that people use by hand.” We will tell you such a simple richness by hand.
