Aoyama Yoshinori is the designer and the founder of the eyewear brand FACTORY900. His grandfather created the Aoyama Optical company 85 years ago in Fukui Prefecture, Sabae city. Aoyama Optical is an OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) factory, which means it is specialized in manufacturing other companies products.

He joined his family business in 2000 and decided to launch his own eyewear brand under the name FACTORY900, with the concept of « THE FUTURES EYEWEAR ».

From planning and designing to production, FACTORY900 has established itself as one of the few factory brands that can carry out almost all the creation and fabrication processes in-house.

Mr. Aoyama Yoshinori won many awards for his work, notably the Sylmo d’Or in Paris, in 2013 and 2015. He was the second Japanese to ever receive it. He also won the German iF Design Award and the A’ Design Award in Italy.

Mr Aoyama Yoshinori has opened 2 shops, in Osaka and Tokyo. In a futuristic space that embodies the brand concept “THE FUTURES EYEWEAR”, you can discover FACTORY 900’s 3 collection lines “FACTORY 900”, “factory 900” and “FACTORY 900 RETRO”, with currently 80 models and 400 variations. Older collections products including discontinued models are also on display.

In addition to proposing optimal design models and various lenses, the shops also offer a full range of after-sales services such as customizing the frame to match customers’ nose shape and hand-polishing it.
